Remote Support for macOS
Solatech Quick Support lets a technician see your screen and resolve software issues with you. Nothing is installed permanently — the session ends the moment you quit the app. macOS asks your permission before any app can see the screen, so there is one step here that Windows does not have.
macOS · Solatech Quick Support (TeamViewerQS.dmg) · runs without an administrator password
-
Step 1: Download the Quick Support app
Download Solatech Quick Support, open TeamViewerQS.dmg, then open the app inside it. It runs from wherever it is — it does not have to go into Applications.
-
Step 2: Open it past the macOS warning
macOS may say the app is from an unidentified developer and refuse to open it. Control-click (or right-click) the app, choose Open, then confirm. You only have to do this the first time.
-
Step 3: Allow screen recording and control
Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under Screen & System Audio Recording, and again under Accessibility, switch on Solatech Quick Support. Without the first the technician sees a blank screen; without the second they can look but not help. You may be asked to quit and reopen the app.
-
Step 4: Share your ID and password with Support
Tell Solatech Support the ID and password the app displays. They are generated fresh for this session and stop working when it ends.
-
Step 5: Watch and end it
You see everything the technician does and can take the mouse back at any time. Quit Quick Support to end the session immediately.
In less than a minute, Solatech Support will connect and help resolve your software issues. If you are having trouble getting started, contact support and we will walk you through it.
Before you connect
- Be at the Mac with the problem on screen — not a phone or tablet.
- Close anything personal: email, banking, private documents.
- Have the vendor and product line you are working with handy.
- Expect the permission prompts in step 3. Declining them ends the session's usefulness.
- Sessions are logged. We never connect without you starting Quick Support.
- Solatech will never call you first and ask for your ID and password.
If it will not connect
- The technician says my screen is black.
- Screen & System Audio Recording is off for Quick Support. Turn it on in System Settings, Privacy & Security, then quit and reopen the app — macOS does not apply it to an app that is already running.
- The technician can see my screen but cannot click anything.
- Accessibility is off for Quick Support. It is a separate switch from screen recording, in the same Privacy & Security list.
- “Solatech Quick Support cannot be opened.”
- macOS is blocking an app it has not seen before. Control-click the app and choose Open rather than double-clicking it.
- “Not ready. Please check your connection.”
- Your network is blocking the connection. Try a phone hotspot, or ask IT to allow teamviewer.com on ports 5938 and 443.
